5 inspirations behind our upcoming collection "Steel Behemoth". The number one is...

1. Nyota Uhura

With her dashing good looks, long neck and beautiful brown skin, Nyota Uhura is our pick for number one inspiration behind our upcoming collection, "Steel Behemoth". She was originally portrayed by Nichelle Nichols (whose appearance in Star Trek: The Original Series in 1966 was an inspiration to many African American women, notably NASA Astronaut Mae Jemison, who went on to become the first woman of African descent to fly aboard a space shuttle in 1992) and later by Zoe Saldana, for the alternate reality version of Uhura in JJ Abrams' remake.

Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura in 2009's Star Trek

In Abram's Star Trek, Uhura  was a human female who served as communications officer aboard the USS Enterprise under the command James T. Kirk in and is romantically involved with her mentor, Spock.
Uhura's real-life influence among women is undeniable, but it's not the sole reason on why is she on top of our list.  We picked her (both Uhuras) because of her intelligence and independence.  Being in a male dominated group, she's not a damsel in distress. She's a lieutenant.  Her appearance also drives women into a genre that was unheard of in female's world; Science fiction (well, at least in the 60's, the first time Star Trek aired)

So, there's goes our five major inspiration behind our upcoming collection that will come out this week.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we love sharing it.  Stay excellent folks!
